Ripping: legal? ethical?

I think that the fact of ripping became something usual and we forget that we can have problems doing it. There are a lot of people who use this issue. It is free, and easy but I understand that it can be bad for companies. So it is not legal but it is a banality. People do it for their own needs but some of them sell what they rip and that is not good because they work on a market they are not allowed to work on. It is ok if you rip for yourself.We can just add that it is difficult to stop when you know you can rip everything you want.
